Cementing Wedging Plug

CEMENTING & WEDGING PLUG

Cement and Wedging Plug

CEMENTING AND WEDGING PLUGS (CW) are used for wedging in off bottom situations such as branch holes and are most effective as bridge plugs for spot cementing sections of holes and prevent dilution of cement by drilling fluids.

The Cementing Wedging Plug is pumped down an open rod line to the required location, spring loaded slips grab wall of hole upon leaving rod line and taper on plug locks in slips. A high pressure reading indicates plug has set correctly.

For wedging with Hall-Rowe type wedges, the cementing wedging plug is pumped down with water to required location, a wooden plug is then set on top of plug and the wedge is lowered and set before wooden plug has time to expand, the wedge is then cemented in to prevent vibration.

For applications where hole is making water, the Cementing Wedging Bottom Packer (CWBP) is recommended.
